orld of Warcraft is a constantly evolving world and the dev team is updating the game regularly with new, compelling content. The latest patch for World of Warcraft has been released, featuring a new dungeon, new loot and mobs, and much more. Here are the highlights:
Blackwing Lair
Nefarian's sanctum, Blackwing Lair, can be found at the very height of Blackrock Spire. It is there in the dark recesses of the mountain's peak that Nefarian has begun to unfold the final stages of his plan to destroy Ragnaros once and for all and lead his army to undisputed supremacy over all the races of Azeroth. Blackwing Lair is a max-level, 40-player raid dungeon, with many new encounters and tempting rewards awaiting the intrepid adventurer that dares to enter its halls.
Darkmoon Faire
A gathering of the exotic from around the world and beyond, Silas Darkmoon has brought together the Darkmoon Faire as a celebration of the wondrous and mysterious found in Azeroth. While the Faire spends most of their time in parts unknown, they do stop from time to time in Mulgore and Elwynn forest. When the Faire is on its way barkers will stop by Orgrimmar and Ironforge to announce its arrival.
Battlemasters
There is a new way to enter the battleground queues - NPCs called Battlemasters. Located in each of the cities, right-clicking on a battlemaster will allow your character to enter a battleground queue just as you would if you touched the battleground's entrance portal. The functionality is exactly the same, so when it's your character's time to enter the chosen battleground, you'll be teleported directly in. Local guards can give you directions on where to find the battlemaster nearest you.

Creation of a Dungeon: Scarlet Monastery |
 |
One of the most notorious instances in World of Warcraft is the Scarlet Monastery in Tirisfal Glades - a major fortress of the Scarlet Crusade. The Crusade is pledged to eradicate the Undead Scourge from Azeroth, but their holy war has taken on a zeal bordering madness. What terrible and dark things are taking hold in this powerful seat of the light? Players have the chance to find out in this epic instance made up of four unique wings each containing a separate adventure. Though now an epic dungeon, once the SM was just an idea, a drawing on a board, and World of Warcraft designer Jeffrey Kaplan has taken the time to talk to us about the dungeon's evolution from idea to inception.
Where did the concept for the Scarlet Monastery originate?
Our Creative Director and story guru - Chris Metzen - usually comes up with the starting themes and ideas behind a new zone or a dungeon. He'll meet with the team, sometimes has maps sketched out and rough ideas of the general direction, as well as the lore and background of the area. Then we start brainstorming as a team and rolling from there.

On the Horizon: Zul Gurub and Arathi Basin |
 |
The next World of Warcraft content patch will feature two major new areas for exploration and conflict. Zul Gurub is a 20-person, casual high-end raid dungeon, extending World of Warcraft's epic, high-level end-game. Also in the next patch, the dev team is planning to release a brand new Battle Ground - the Arathi Basin - for player-versus-player mayhem. Arathi Basin will be a medium high-end map that will focus on the Horde vs. Alliance resource struggle. Teams will need to capture and hold strategic objectives to gather resources for their side. The first team to reach their resource goals wins. Watch worldofwarcraft.com and the Insider in the coming weeks for previews on these new areas and other announcements on upcoming content for World of Warcraft.
